The Role We are seeking a skilled Android Developer to design, develop, test, and maintain Android applications. In this part-time, fully remote role, you will collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and user-friendly mobile solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong programming fundamentals with practical experience in modern Android development. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and, where applicable, Java. Build responsive, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces based on product and design requirements. Implement application features, API integrations, authentication flows, and data handling. Apply modern Android development practices, including Jetpack components and recommended architecture patterns. Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate REST APIs and troubleshoot data or connectivity issues. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while following established development standards. Identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and compatibility issues across devices and Android versions. Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews to maintain application quality. Support application releases, deployment activities, and ongoing maintenance. Stay informed about Android platform updates, development tools, and emerging mobile technologies. Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in Android or mobile application development preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent qualification preferred. Proficiency in Kotlin; experience with Java and Android SDK is an advantage. Familiarity with Android Studio, Git, Gradle, and modern Android development tools. Experience with REST APIs, JSON, asynchronous programming, and application lifecycle management. Understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming, debugging, and testing practices. Familiarity with Jetpack Compose, Android Jetpack libraries, and dependency injection is beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and clear communication. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a distributed team. Professional certifications are not required; a portfolio or examples of completed Android projects are advantageous. Flexible part-time work with a fully remote arrangement.
