Role Description The Azure Databricks Engineer role is a contract, on-site position based in Dubai. The engineer will design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes using Azure Databricks and related Azure services. Daily responsibilities include building and optimizing scalable data solutions, integrating data from multiple sources, managing data quality, and collaborating with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders. The role involves performance tuning, monitoring jobs, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring secure and reliable data operations within the Azure environment. The engineer will also contribute to best practices, documentation, and continuous improvement of the data and analytics platform. Strong Software Development skills with experience in Python, Scala, or SQL for building data pipelines and applications in Azure Databricks. Infrastructure expertise including understanding of distributed systems, networking basics, and environment configuration for data platforms. Hands-on experience with Cloud Computing, preferably Microsoft Azure services such as Databricks, Data Factory, Synapse, and Azure Storage. Proficiency with Linux for scripting, automation, and managing compute environments used in data engineering workflows. Solid knowledge of Databases, including relational and cloud-based data stores, data modeling, performance tuning, and query optimization. Experience in designing end-to-end data solutions, ETL/ELT processes, and working within modern data architectures and CI/CD pipelines. Ability to work on-site in Dubai, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Prior experience in consulting or working with enterprise clients in data and analytics projects is an advantage.
