What They Deliver Complete business features end-to-end, from specification through to release, across digital banking channels. Write specifications, build code, write tests, and ship to production. Dogfood the Agentic SDLC platform. Feed defects and gaps back to the platform team. Help other squads adopt the platform. Full-Stack Scope — Mandatory Genuinely full-stack and non-negotiable: the same engineer owns the React screen, the Spring Boot service behind it, the data model, the pipeline, and the production support of what they ship. Front-end-only or back-end-only specialists are not a fit for this role. Candidates should be able to walk through a feature they personally built across every layer. Frontend React (mandatory) TypeScript Component design Responsive UI Figma-to-code Accessibility Cross-browser behaviour Backend Java 17+ / Spring Boot 3.x (mandatory) NodeJS (Express, Next.js etc.) Python Microservices DB design and modelling for backends REST and event-driven APIs OAuth2 / OIDC PostgreSQL Kafka / IBM MQ DevOps Own their service pipeline: GitHub Actions Docker Kubernetes / OpenShift GitOps Automated testing Observability On-call ownership of what they ship Banking Production Experience — Pluses / Nice to Have Demonstrable experience writing production-grade code in a bank or regulated financial institution — systems handling real customers, real money movement, and real regulatory exposure. Comfortable with the operating discipline that comes with it: Formal change management and approvals Segregation of duties Release windows and rollback plans Audit evidence and traceability Production incident handling and RCA Exposure to core banking, payments, cards, lending or channel integration is strongly preferred. Security Engineering — Must Have Understands the security bar a bank operates at and codes to it by default: OWASP Top 10 Parameterised queries Input validation and output encoding Server-side authorisation and least privilege Vetted cryptography Secure session and token handling Secrets managed through a secrets manager — never hardcoded, logged or committed Dependencies vetted SAST, DAST and SCA treated as part of definition of done Careful with customer data: PII minimisation and masking Data residency No production data in lower environments Spec-Driven Development — Must Have Hands-on experience with Spec-Driven Development: writing a precise, reviewable specification before code, treating the spec as the source of truth, and generating implementation and tests from it. Familiarity with SDD tooling and workflows, for example GitHub Spec Kit, Kiro, or Claude Code spec workflows. Keeping spec, tests and code in sync as requirements change. Can write acceptance criteria that are unambiguous enough for an agent to implement and for a reviewer to verify. AI Tooling — Must Have Claude Code or GitHub Copilot used daily Spec-based development AI-generated tests Skill-file authoring Prompt engineering MCP tool use Reviews agent output critically and knows where human judgement must stay in the loop. Interpersonal and Stakeholder Skills — Must Have Strong communicator who can move between audiences: fellow engineers and architects, and non-technical stakeholders in business, product, operations, risk, compliance and audit.
