Senior Backend Engineer Abu Dhabi A confidential private investment firm in Abu Dhabi is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to work on a highly concurrent, large-scale distributed backend system. This is a genuine backend engineering role centred on architecture, scale, and reliability, sitting deep in the systems layer rather than the application layer. Design, build, and operate large-scale distributed backend systems handling high volumes of concurrent traffic Own performance optimisation, scalability, and reliability across production systems Debug and troubleshoot complex issues in high-throughput production environments Work across networking, Linux, and core operating systems fundamentals as part of day to day engineering Work with technologies such as Kafka, Redis, and other distributed backend architectures What You'll Bring Deep experience with distributed systems design, including consistency models, partitioning, replication, and fault tolerance Strong grasp of concurrency, multithreading, and asynchronous processing under real production load Experience with a core programming language such as Python, Java, Go, or C++ Experience with message queues and event-driven architectures such as Kafka or equivalent Caching strategies and in-memory data stores such as Redis at scale Strong fundamentals in networking protocols, load balancing, and Linux internals Experience diagnosing and resolving latency, throughput, and reliability issues in live systems Comfortable using AI coding tools day to day Compensation and Benefits Strong, fully tax-free compensation package Medical and life insurance extended to family Discretionary annual bonus Full visa sponsorship Interested?
