Role purpose The Senior ERP Consultant is a hands-on, techno-functional role responsible for personally building, configuring and maintaining the organization's wide Dynamics ERP environment across Finance and Supply Chain. As the sole ERP engineer for the business, supported by one Junior team member, the role delivers Configuration, Integrations, Building Custom reports, forms, complex workflows directly, and owns technical delivery of rollouts, upgrades and module expansions from requirements gathering through go-live and hypercare. The position coordinates closely with colleagues at every level — junior staff, department leads and senior executives. Translating business needs into system solutions, and engages external partners on a need basis only, for specialist advisory or additional capacity during peak project phases. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES ERP Build and Configuration Build, configure and support Dynamics ERP across Finance and Supply Chain modules. Create and modify forms, entities and complex workflows directly to support evolving business requirements. Maintain system documentation, data integrity, security roles and change-control processes. Integrations and Development Design and build integrations between Dynamics ERP and other business systems. Write, optimize and troubleshoot SQL queries; develop scripts and code (e.g. X++, C#, Power Platform) to extend ERP functionality. Reporting and Analytics Develop and maintain custom reports, dashboards and analytics using SQL, Power BI and relevant BI/reporting tools. Project Delivery Own the technical delivery of ERP rollouts, upgrades and module expansions, from requirements gathering through go-live and hypercare — with hands-on execution, not oversight of others doing it. Support and Service Quality Provide L2/L3 support, root-cause analysis and proactive monitoring to minimize business disruption. Collaboration and Oversight Guide and review the work of one Junior ERP team member, while remaining the primary hands-on contributor. Coordinate day to day with colleagues at all levels — junior staff, department leads and senior executives — translating business needs into system solutions and keeping everyone informed. Bring in external partners on a need basis and manage them for the duration of that engagement. REQUIREMENTS FOR ROLE Experience & qualifications 8+ years of hands-on experience personally managing Microsoft Dynamics ERP (AX/365 Finance & Operations), with deep focus on Finance and Supply Chain modules. Direct, hands-on involvement in at least 2 full end-to-end ERP rollouts (requirements, design, build, testing, cutover and post go-live support) Proven techno-functional profile: able to independently build integrations, develop reports, configure forms and design complex workflows. Strong command of SQL (writing, tuning and troubleshooting complex queries) and at least one related development language used in the Dynamics ecosystem (e.g. X++, C#, Power Platform/Power Automate, .NET). Comfortable being the sole or lead ERP resource in the business, with the ability to mentor and delegate routine tasks to a Junior team member while retaining hands-on ownership of the work. Track record of working independently with minimal supervision, while coordinating effectively with colleagues at every level from junior staff to senior executives. Experience in managing and overseeing external partners on a project basis. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant Associate; Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant Associate; Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps Developer Associate; Power Platform Developer Associate. Candidates with equivalent, current hands-on expertise but without formal certification are still encouraged to apply. Knowledge & skills Comfortable operating as the sole ERP specialist in the business. Ability manage and Train juinior team members. Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable coordinating with, and presenting to, colleagues at every level, from junior staff to senior executives. Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Sound judgment on when to bring in external partners, and the ability to brief and manage them efficiently on a need basis. Self-directed, able to prioritize and deliver independently. Structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis. Project and time management across concurrent workstreams. Mentoring and reviewing the work of a Junior team member while retaining hands-on ownership.
